Caring
The key question of Caring is rated Good. People were supported to promote their independence. People told us staff were kind and caring. People and staff knew each other well.

Independence, choice and control
The provider completed regular meetings with people to discuss menu choices. The provider asked people to feedback on the service and the care they received. Most of the responses were positive.
We observed staff asking people for their choices and allowing them time to communicate their decision. Staff appeared to interact well with people
Staff promoted people's independence when possible. One person told us, "I've got my independence and wash some of my things myself. I now have a one cup kettle which is very good and little fridge in my room, as I particularly like a certain butter, I also have my milk in there." Staff supported people to maintain links with those that were important to them. Some people had their own mobile phones to stay in contact with their friends and family. People told us staff were; "kind," and "compassionate."
Staff were unable to explain how they promoted positive risk taking to support people with their independence. However, staff were able to explain the equipment used that enabled a person to be more independent as staff did not need to be in the same area.
