Independence, choice and control
Care staff told us they found their work rewarding. One care assistant told us they liked seeing the positive impact their work had on people' everyday lives. Staff told us how they promoted independence and helped clients to make their own choices. Staff told us they regularly checked care plans. Staff told us they had enough time at each visit to complete their support tasks and to talk with people.
People were involved in planning their care through the initial assessment process and ongoing review of their support. Care records contained detailed and personalised information. They included a section called 'All About Me' which described their personal background, hobbies and interests. Care plans captured people’s level of independence and their support needs.
People said they were involved in the development of their care plans. “We are getting competent care after restructuring the care plan last November.” People told us that staff listened to them.
