Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders
Freedom to speak up
Staff told us they were confident on speaking up about concerns at the service. A staff member told us, "yes sure they [Staff] always listen [to their concerns]. If they [staff] did not listen to my concerns I would report it to the manager. If the manager didn’t listen, I would go to CQC." A manager told us “Our staff are always encouraged to speak up. We have monthly staff meetings and an open-door policy. Staff know they can speak to the management at any time and have an open and honest conversation.”
There was a clear policy on whistleblowing and who staff could contact in the event of a concern.
Workforce equality, diversity and inclusion
We did not look at Workforce equality, diversity and inclusion during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Well-led.
Governance, management and sustainability
Staff felt supported and listened to by the management team. One staff member said, "The management are nice, their behaviour towards people living her and staff is so nice. They always making sure they make the place nice and if anything is wrong, they will action." A manager felt supported by the leaders and told us they visited twice a week and were only a phone call away if they ever needed anything.
The service had created surveys to send to people and gather their feedback on the service. However, as The Ruddington was a new service, these surveys had not yet been sent out. We were therefore unable to assess the effectiveness of these. There were effective auditing processes in place, to ensure that the service was run safely and effectively.
