Responding to people’s immediate needs
Staff told us they felt the service was responsive to people’s needs. One staff member told us, “When I run over time on a visit for instance because a client has extra needs that day, I have always found the management to be helpful in rearranging future visits if necessary so that I can catch up on my time, or letting my next clients know that I will be delayed, and understanding that the client’s needs come first so I have to stay a little bit longer rather than rushing away.”
People told us some staff were not effective in communicating with them as English may not be their first language. However, they still described the staff as polite, friendly and respectful. Relatives told us staff kept them updated on any changes or incidents that occurred. One relative said, “I am happy when carers are regular as they spot these kind of things (changes in the person’s health or presentation) and they (staff) know [person] well.”
Workforce wellbeing and enablement
We did not look at Workforce wellbeing and enablement during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Caring.
