Relatives felt the staff were caring and met their loved ones needs. Comments included, “Staff are respectful of [person], they treat [person] well and understand their needs.”
Staff knew people well and provided examples of how they support people in a way which meets their needs and promotes their independence. Staff told us, "We get to know them on a personal level and set goals that would mean something to them, for example learning to cook or clean their room to supporting them to visit their family on the bus. It can be small to us but mean a lot to them and their family."
We observed caring interactions between staff and people. People were cared for by staff members who knew them well and treated them with dignity and respect. People were going out on day trips, to favourite places and doing their favourite past times daily and we observed this naturally occurring during the assessment.
Care plans were person centred and detailed for staff to follow. People and relatives were involved in the care plan process and in reviews of care.
