Caring
People were supported by staff who understood their needs and had caring at their core. Many staff had worked at Avon View for several years and were passionate about the care they gave. We observed many affectionate interactions between staff and people during the inspection. People and staff were relaxed in each other’s company. Dignity and respect were shown to people and amongst the staff team.

Kindness, compassion and dignity
People told us staff were kind and caring. Some of the comments we received were: “I feel people are safe they are such a lovely bunch we are like family”, “Absolutely would recommend them. The staff are wonderful, they see to everything”, “They are so kind and friendly.”
Without exception, we observed kindness and compassion between staff and people. One person said, “It has been such a surprise because I am so independent, I never thought I would be happy living in a home, but I really am so happy. The staff make me feel wonderful.”
Staff told us they were a good team and worked well together. Staff had received training in privacy, dignity, and respect. They understood the values of caring for others. Staff told us it was like they were working with their family and the people they supported were the best thing about working at Avon View. The manager said, “We are here for our residents, that's what motivates us.” A member of staff said, “I love my job, I am happy with everything.”
